Uwe Oppermann

Uwe Oppermann is the manager of the European food market segment in the headquarters of Shimadzu Europa GmbH in Duisburg, Germany. He studied Mineralogy with a focus on geochemistry and soil science at the Technical University of Braunschweig. During that time, he experienced working with analytical instrumentation for characterization and quantification of essential and toxic elements in rocks, minerals and soils. Since 1987, he has been working as a product manager for spectroscopy in the analytical business unit of Shimadzu with responsibility for atomic- and molecular spectroscopy in a wide application field including the environmental, chemical, academia and food market. In 2015 Uwe was appointed Manager for the European Food market. Since then, he is responsible for development and promotional activities of analytical solutions in the food and beverage industry. Actual projects are related to the determination of mineral oil residues in Food and food packaging, detection of PFAS contamination in food and drinking water and Pesticide and heavy metal analysis in Hemp and cannabis samples. His mission is to make complicated things easy and supply the instruments, methods, and experience necessary to achieve the highest level of food quality and food safety.
