Steven Tan

Steven Tan was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Northern Leaf in 2024, bringing more than 15 years of international experience across the cannabis sector.

Northern Leaf is a bulk producer of medical cannabis API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) for use in finished cannabis-based products for medicinal use (CBPMs) for export to international markets.

Operating one of Europe’s largest EU-GMP-licensed facilities in the Channel Island of Jersey, Northern Leaf accounts for an estimated 90% of current medical cannabis production in Jersey and has the capacity to produce approximately 10 tonnes of dried flower annually.

Steven has worked across multiple regulated markets in Europe and North America, advising licensed producers in jurisdictions including Canada, Germany and Portugal. His expertise spans cultivation, genetics and large-scale production systems, with a focus on quality, consistency and yield. His background includes extensive work in seed production and plant genetics, delivering commercially viable outputs at scale.

Since his appointment, he has led a significant operational turnaround, increasing capacity at Northern Leaf’s 100,000 sq ft facility from 25% to 75% in under two years, EBIDTA positive and positioning the business for continued export-led growth.
