Robert Veverka

Robert Veverka is a politically active promoter of drug policy reform not only in the Czech Republic, he strives primarily for the regulation of cannabis for both personal and industrial purposes. For 15 years he has been chairing the non-profit organization Legalizace.cz, which organizes annual demonstrations for the legalization of cannabis under the name Million Marijuana March Prague and supports adults in growing cannabis for personal use. Since 2010, he has been the publisher and editor-in-chief of Legalization magazine – the first cannabis magazine in the Czech Republic, which aims primarily to hold up a mirror to prohibitionist policies, offer tertiary prevention for cannabis users, and present relevant arguments for legalizing cannabis and ending the war on drugs.

For the last five years he has been a municipal councillor in the Prague 2 district for the Pirate Party, a member of the local security commission and also a member of the Prague City Council Commission on Drug Policy. Together with other experts, he is actively preparing a draft law on cannabis regulation, which should allow all adults to legally grow and possess cannabis for personal use or obtain it from a distribution network of legal dispensaries.
