Omar Sacirbey is the editor of MJBiz Magazine, the award-winning print and digital publication of MJBiz, the oldest marijuana content and conference company in the world. Omar joined MJBiz in 2015 as a reporter, covering all facets of the marijuana industry, from cultivation, manufacturing, and retail, to finance, regulation, and science. He helped the magazine win multiple “Tabbies,” the highest B2B journalism awards from Trade, Association, and Business Publications International, and was part of the MJBizCon team that won multiple Gold 100 Grand Awards from Trade Show Executive Magazine, including the Fastest Growing Gold 100 for attendance and exhibition size. Prior to covering marijuana, Omar was a correspondent for the Religion News Service, winning journalism awards from the American Academy of Religion and the Religion Newswriters Association. He has also written for the New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Newsweek, and other publications. Before going into journalism, Omar was a diplomat for Bosnia and Herzegovina, serving from 1992-96 at the United Nations in New York, the Bosnian Foreign Ministry in Sarajevo, and the Bosnian Embassy to The Netherlands. He has degrees from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Public Policy, and the Columbia University School of Journalism.
