Norman L. Reimer is the Global CEO of Fair Trials. Before joining Fair Trials, he was the Executive Director of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), the preeminent organisation in the US dedicated to enhancing the capacity of the criminal defense bar to safeguard fundamental rights and promote reforms in further of a fair, rational, humane, and non-discriminatory criminal legal system.
Prior to his time at NACDL, Norm was a criminal defence lawyer based in New York City for over 20 years, practicing in state and federal court at both the trial and appellate levels and promoting systemic reform through both his service as a leader of the organised bar and the chair of numerous task forces and committees. Norm is a passionate advocate for the rights of the accused and the need to limit governmental overreach in the enforcement of its laws.
Norm also serves as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of New Yorkers United for Justice, a coalition of more than a dozen national and state organisations on the forefront of public policy, civil rights, and legal advocacy pursuing criminal justice reform in New York State.
