John Pinto

John has been professionally managing institutional and family office capital for over 20 years and has invested across all asset classes, investment strategies and geographies. His focus has been on finding niche strategies, sectors, and smaller companies with clear thematic tailwinds. John and the SOJE Capital team began research on the cannabis space in early 2018 and since then, the overwhelming majority of John’s focus at SOJE has been on developing a curated portfolio of the best public and private companies in the US cannabis landscape. His investing experience prior to SOJE Fund includes co-founding/managing Brightleaf Partners LP (2002-2008), a concentrated long/short consumer sector micro-cap equity fund anchored by a major university endowment and with peak assets of $95 million. His professional investment career was preceded by experiences as President of a multi-channel catalog/retailer and an investment banker to the lower middle market. John received an MBA from UCLA, BA from Yale University, and is a CFA Charterholder.
