Jindřich Vobořil

NATIONAL DRUG COORDINATOR, OFFICE OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC

Mr. Jindřich Vobořil is one of the Czech leading experts on drug use related issues with over 30 years of experience in leading and developing public health and social services and programmes.

He counts with extensive experience in drug policy development in the Czech Republic, and has broad knowledge and understanding of international drug policy and drug control.  Mr. Vobořil has worked extensively in the development, management and evaluation of community services and healthcare agencies. He is an accomplished lecturer and speaker, both in the Czech Republic and abroad, and has lectured in a number of universities around the globe and participated as a key speaker in many international conferences.

Mr Voboril’s broad knowledge and understanding of the world drug situation and its cross-cutting impact on health, combined with his hands-on experience in drug policy development and its political and diplomatic dimensions, as well as his senior management experience, has made him an eminent choice to conduct international consultancies for the European Commission, UNODC, GIZ, and Open Society Foundations, among others. His international work extends to Central and Southeast Asia (namely, Afghanistan, Thailand, Vietnam), Central and South America (Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia), as well as a number of European countries. 

In February 2022 he returned to the position of Czech National Drugs Coordinator, position which he held on two previous terms, between 2010 and 2018.  As such, he is currently engaged in drug policy revision and drafting a new law on the legal regulation of cannabis markets in the Czech Republic.
