Speaking on Genetics for Patient Outcomes
Alex Fraser is a UK medical cannabis patient advocate and industry professional with over a decade of experience across patient advocacy, public education, and the prescription cannabis sector.
In 2014, he co-founded the United Patients Alliance, a leading medical cannabis advocacy organisation, and campaigned for legal patient access to cannabis medicines through to the landmark UK law change in 2018.
During this period, Alex appeared on national TV multiple times, including on the BBC and ITV, helping bring patient experiences and policy reform into the spotlight through media work, public campaigning, educational events, and protests.
Since 2019, Alex has worked at Grow Group UK, where he currently serves as Patient Access Lead. His work spans patient support, clinician education, medicine procurement, and wider access strategy within the UK prescription cannabis market. He is ABPI qualified and regularly speaks at cannabis, healthcare and policing conferences.
More recently, Alex launched Patient Protect, an organisation providing legal guidance and support to prescription cannabis patients experiencing discrimination in areas including policing, employment, housing, and healthcare.
He is a post-operative Crohn’s disease patient with an ileostomy who uses prescribed cannabis medicines to help manage chronic pain, nausea, appetite, and sleep.
