Dr Dylan Said

SENIOR HEAD, MALTA MEDICINES AUTHORITY

Dylan Said, a Doctor of Pharmacy graduate from the University of Malta and warranted pharmacist, has since 2016 garnered extensive experience in pharmaceutical regulation through his roles at the Malta Medicines Authority. He currently holds a Senior Head position within the Cannabis for Medicinal and Research Purposes Unit, in which capacity Dylan leads efforts to regulate and monitor pharmaceutical activities and supply chains associated with medicinal cannabis. His primary focus is on supporting research and development initiatives while ensuring accessibility to high-quality cannabinoid products.

With a background in pharmacy and regulatory affairs, Dylan demonstrates competency in strategic and risk management, statistical data interpretation, communication science and international relations. He has represented Malta in various regulatory forums, including the Heads of Medicines Agencies (HMA) Communications Working Group and the European Commission Expert Group on Safety Features. In addition to his regulatory responsibilities, Dylan is a certified internal auditor and actively involved in the collaborative HMA Benchmarking of European Medicines Agencies (BEMA) programme as an assessor and Steering Group member. Through these engagements, he has honed his skills in regulatory compliance reviews and operational assessments. He has also attained practical expertise in academic, research, analytical, clinical, hospital and community pharmacy settings.

Dylan’s professional interests extend beyond his regulatory commitments to include other scientific domains such as onco-haematology, immunopharmacology, autoimmune disorders, pharmacoeconomics, clinical outcomes research, real-world evidence, big data, public health policy, health technology assessment (HTA) and clinical trials.
